  • 1. Welcome to Language Camp in Germany

'LEOlingo Sprachcamps für Kinder' offer children and teenagers, aged between 7 and 17 years old, language holidays in English, French and Spanish.

Our counsellors are native speakers from all over the world. They come primarily from the UK, Australia, New Zealand, the US, Canada, France and Spain and give a great insight into the language and culture of their country. This enables the children to experience the new language as if they were abroad.

Our one-week language camps are available as day or overnight camps. All camps offer a varied programme consisting of sports, games, crafts, drama and music. Alongside our classic overnight camps, there are also special camps, which incorporate other activities into the programme, such as horse riding, windsurfing, climbing, etc.

In Northern Germany there are English, French and Spanish language camps in Hamburg, Schwerin and on the Baltic Coast. In Southern Germany (Bavaria), children can take part in English and French language camps around Erlangen, Nuremberg, Neumarkt and Regensburg.

  • 2. That’s ´LEOlingo Sprachcamps fuer Kinder´

The world right on your doorstep!

Our one-week language camps encourage fun with the language, self-confidence and contact with other children. Each with their own small group (about 12 kids), the English, French or Spanish speaking counsellors organise a varied camp programme so that the children really get to know the language. Everything is explained enthusiastically to encourage the children to join in and feel comfortable in this “new world”.

At LEOlingo it’s not about overloading the children with grammar and vocabulary. The main focus is on the speaking and understanding of the language in everyday situations, as the counsellors speak only in their native language. Through language games and sports, self-written dramas and funny sketches, crafts and discussions, the children simply learn the language along the way.

At the end of each week, we have our own stage show (the “Happy-ning”), so family and friends can see what the children have been up to during the week.

  • 3. LEOlingo Day Camp

English camp for children aged 7 to 14

At this LEOlingo English camp, the children are at camp Monday to Friday, from 9 until 5 o’clock and then at home again in the evenings. At midday, there is time for everyone to have lunch together.

At a day camp, our native speakers, from countries such as England, America or Australia, offer the children funny language games and team activities (language rallies, puzzles, dialogues), popular national sports (baseball, American football, rugby, etc.) and great songs. The children also create their own sketches and dramas, which they perform to their family and friends in a stage show at the end of the English camp. For this stage show (the “Happy-ning”), the children also make their own simple costumes, masks and scenery.

Here is an example programme for a typical day at this English camp. Every counsellor is responsible for their own individual group of about 12 children. The groups are split up according to age and English ability.

A day at a day camp:

    09.00 – 09.15 Morning circle

  • 4. LEOlingo Overnight Camp

English, French or Spanish language camp for children aged 10 to 14 or 16

At our LEOlingo overnight camps everything is there: the language, the accommodation, the food and lots of fun. The children and counsellors sleep in tents, youth hostels, cabins, guesthouses or even in a castle.

Coming from a variety of countries, such as Canada, New Zealand and the UK, our native speakers provide a varied programme of language games, songs, funny sketches, short dramas, creative activities and of course, the popular sports from each country (Baseball, Rugby, Cricket, American Football, etc.).

In the evenings, the children can expect a programme with campfires, scavenger hunts, a disco, night hikes and more.

With the overnight camps, children can choose between a classic camp or a special camp:

Our classic camps offer a diverse programme of language, sport and creative activities – ideal for children who don’t want to focus on a particular area. There are classic camps running throughout the summer in English, French and Spanish.

At our special camps, the children choose a particular focus, which is then incorporated into the classic language programme, either every day or on one set day. Special activities include horse riding, windsurfing, climbing, canoeing and sports. We work together with experienced professionals who teach the children everything they need to know about the respective area.

We recommend overnight camps for kids aged 10 to 14 or 16 years. The French and Spanish camps are meant for children from 11 to 16 years old (with previous knowledge). The groups of these overnight camps are there at the same time as the groups of the English camps.

Here is an example programme for an overnight camp. The children are split into different age groups. Every counsellor is responsible for their own individual group.

  • 5. LEOlingo Language Camps for Schools and Companies

Schools have the opportunity to organise a language camp for a whole class. Whether at the school or at a youth centre, each pupil can use and build up their language knowledge. The class is encouraged to bond and the teachers also find new enthusiasm for the language.

We can also happily organise a language camp for a company as an internal holiday programme for employees’ children. This way the parents can work peacefully in the holidays, the children have fun while also learning, and the companies have happy employees.

  • 6. LEOlingo On Tour

Language holidays for teenagers aged 14 to 17

LEOlingo On Tour is aimed at teenagers who want to venture further afield. In the summer holidays we offer a language trip to England, as well as youth camps on the Island of Rügen and at certain camps in Bavaria.

  • 7. Your English, Spanish or French Language Camp

If you click on 'Camps', you will find all English, French and Spanish language camps for the summer.

If you click on a camp location in the table, you will be shown more details (in German) and also some photos.

Special camps include windsurfing (Windsurfen), horse riding (Reiten), sports (Sport), high ropes course (Klettern), adventure (Abenteuer) and beach camp (Beach+Fun).

The overnight camps (“Ü”) last from Sunday (5pm) to Friday (5 pm).

  • 8. Summer Camp Jobs in Germany for Native/Bilingual Speakers

Teach English, French or Spanish in Germany - native speakers wanted!

Learning a foreign language can be fun! Teaching as well!

Our approach is to live the language and make it happen. The kids should feel comfortable learning the language and gain confidence through games and activities. We are not a "conservative" language school, we organise holiday camps. Our goal is to show children that learning and speaking different languages is a lot of fun. Arts and crafts, language games, sports, singing, drama and sketches are part of our weekly program. You will be trained to teach a language without overloading the kids with grammar or pure vocabulary, but by playing games, supporting their creativity and practising their conversation skills.

We are searching for native speakers to be language counsellors during the German summer break. Don’t hesitate to send us your application if your mother tongue is English, French-English or Spanish-English, if you would like to spend some time working abroad and if you are interested in teaching kids your language in a fun way, while having the possibility of travelling and getting to know the German culture.

You should have the following skills:

    • Be an English native speaker, English-French or English-Spanish bilingual.
    • Experience in working with children between 7 and 15.
    • Capable to take over responsibility for a whole group (about 12 kids).
    • Be energetic, outgoing and confident, as well as responsible.
    • Be capable and willing to adapt to different countries, rules and habits as well as to simple living conditions.
    • Be willing to teach children who know very little of your language as well as more advanced older children who need to practice and expand on the language in an interesting and effective way.
    • Be willing to take over responsibility for material as well as campsites (to return/leave them in an appropriate way).
    • Be available for at least six weeks during summer (July/August) for camps in Northern Germany. The first week of training is included.
    • Applicants do not need to know German, although it can be advantageous.
    • Non EU-citizens require a work permit or a "work-and-travel-visa" which they can apply for at a German embassy in their home country (US-citizens: it takes up to four months to get this visa).
    • Applicants with camp counsellor/teaching experience are preferred.
    • Musicians are very welcome to apply.
    • College and university students are preferred.

Your working conditions at LEOlingo Sprachcamps:

    • You will be living with German host families, in simple guest houses or apartments, or at the campsite when you are responsible for an overnight camp.
    • The participation in a one week training programme is mandatory (8 days before camps start; the dates above include the training period) as well as at a refresher training session one weekend.
